Around 25 years after the Folke's successful debut as a "people's boat" for popular sports, the International Folkboat was the logical next step, incorporating the advances of modern boatbuilding: no more clinker hulls, aluminium rigging, more foresail choices, a self-draining cockpit, a slightly higher superstructure for more living space below deck and much more. Like the original, the IF boat became a bestseller.
Today, the IF boats are too small for many crews and the long-keel boats are now available at very favourable prices. These very safe cruising boats for small crews and young people can be bought for just a few thousand euros, especially in Scandinavia.
In the used boat test, YACHT takes another look at the classic from back then, presenting the strengths and weaknesses of the design that used boat buyers need to be aware of. Now in the new YACHT, no. 18/2017.
